Washindi wa tuzo za umahiri wa uandishi wa habari wa takwimu za wanawake na uongozi kujulikana 25 Febuari, 2023
Chama cha Waandishi wa Habari Wanawake Tanzania, Zanzibar (TAMWA, ZNZ), kwa kushirikiana na Jumuiya ya Wanasheria Wanawake Zanzibar (ZAFELA) na Jumuiya ya Mazingira, Jinsia na Utetezi Pemba (PEGAO) Jumamosi tarehe 25 Febuari, 2023 zimeandaa hafla ya utoaji tuzo maalum za umahiri wa uandishi wa habari za takwimu zinazohusu masuala ya wanawake na uongozi Zanzibar ambayo itafanyika katika ukumbi wa Sheikh Idriss Abdul Wakil
– Kikwajuni kuanzia saa 1: 00 usiku.
Mgeni rasmi anatarajiwa kuwa Rais wa Zanzibar na Mwenyekiti wa Baraza la Mapinduzi, Dk Hussein Ali Mwinyi katika hafla hiyo ambayo inategemewa kuhusisha zaidi ya watu 150.
Kauli mbiu ya tunzo hizo ni “KALAMU YANGU MCHANGO WANGU KWA WANAWAKE” na ina lengo la kuimarisha kada ya habari katika eneo mahsusi la takwimu za wanawake hivyo kuwashajiisha waandishi wa habari kutumia kalamu zao katika kuandika kwa weledi na umahiri masuala ya wanawake na uongozi.
Waandishi wa habari ni watu muhimu katika kuleta mabadiliko, hivyo wana nafasi kubwa ya kushajihisha kufikiwa kwa usawa wa kijinsia katika vyombo vya maamuzi ikiwa wataandika habari za takwimu na uchambuzi mfululizo.
Kazi zilizopitiwa zilikuwa ni 421 kutoka vyombo vya habari vya aina zote vikiwemo magazeti, redio, televisheni pamoja mitandao ya kijamii.
Kazi zilizowasilishwa zilitakiwa ziwe zimetolewa au kurushwa hewani kuanzia Januari 2022 hadi Disemba 31, 2022 na ziwe zimezingatia umahiri wa uandishi na uandaaji bora wa vipindi na makala ikiwemo ubunifu, vyanzo vingi na tofauti vya habari, zenye kuweza kuleta mabadiliko, kutoa suluhisho pamoja na kupanga kwa umakini takwimu za wanawake na uongozi.
Jumla ya washindi 12 wanatarajiwa kutunukiwa zawadi katika usiku huo maalum; mshindi wa kwanza, wa pili na wa tatu baada ya kupitiwa na jopo la majaji watano wataalamu wa masuala mbali mbali yakiwemo, habari za magazeti, kielektroniki, mitandao ya kijamii, masuala ya wanawake na sheria.
Shughuli hiyo inatarajiwa kuhudhuriwa na wadau mbali mbali kutoka katika taasisi za Serikali, habari, vyuo vikuu, vyama vya siasa, asasi za kiraia na wadau wa masuala ya wanawake.
Kazi za washindi zitatangazwa na kuoneshwa kwa lengo la kuwahamasisha waandishi na wadau wa habari kujifunza na kutafuta njia za kuimarisha kazi za wanwake na uongozi.
Hii ni mara ya pili kufanyika kwa tuzo hizo za takwimu za wanawake na uongozi chini ya mradi wa Kuinua Wanawawake katika Uongozi (SWIL) Zanziba kwa mashirikiano na Ubalozi wa Norway nchini Tanzania.

Winners of Journalism of Excellence in Data Journalism on Women’s leadership awards to be announced February 25, 2023
Tanzania Media Women’s Association, Zanzibar (TAMWA ZNZ) in collaboration with the Zanzibar Women’s Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) and the Pemba Environmental and Gender Advocacy Organization (PEGAO) on Saturday, February 25, 2023, have organized a special award ceremony for excellence in data journalism on women’s issues and leadership Zanzibar which will be held at Sheikh Idriss Abdul Wakil hall- Kikwajuni from 7:00 pm.
The official guest of Honour is expected to be the President of Zanzibar and Chairperson of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, at the event which is expected to involve more than 150 people.
The motto of the awards is “MY PEN, MY CONTRIBUTION TO WOMEN” which aims at strengthening journalism profession on reporting stories of women’s leadership both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Journalists are one of the key players in bringing about social change, thus, they stand a good chance to promoting gender equality in decision-making bodies if they report with data, analysis and perseverance.
Some 421 works were submitted for review from all types of media including newspapers, radio, television and social media.
The works were required to have been released or aired from January 2022 to December 31, 2022 and should have focused on writing skills and the best preparation of programs and articles including creativity, multiple and diverse sources of information, have high possibility of influencing changes, providing solutions as well as statistically aligning information about women’s leadership.
A total of 12 winners are expected to be awarded on that important and glorious gala night, the winner, first runner up and the second runner up after scrutinized by five panel of Judges experts in the related fields; journalism in electronic media, print, social media, women and law.
The event will be attended by various stakeholders including from government institutions, media, universities, political parties, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and women right organizations.
All works by journalists will be announced and displayed in a bid to encourage more journalists and media stakeholders to learn and pitch ways for improvement.
This is the second time data journalism award on women’s leadership is hosted under Strengthen Women in Leadership (SWIL) in Zanzibar supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania.
